Sun Valley Potato Growers, Inc. Potato Cooperative Sun Valley Potato Growers, Inc. is a potato farmer cooperative. It is also the only grower-owned potato cooperative in Idaho that owns and operates a packing and sales facility. The cooperative is located in Minidoka County in the heart of the Magic Valley of Southern Idaho. Sun Valley Potato Growers, Inc. has approximately 20 growers in Southern Idaho supplying approximately 1.8 million/cwt. of the potato to the plant. The potato is then packed and sold on the fresh market. Potato - A Premium Product By owning their fresh pack processing plant, this cooperative creates a situation that brings the grower and the staff together together to produce a premium product. Mission Statement "Sun Valley Potato Growers, Inc. will enhance it's member's profitability through effective marketing of their potato products. This mission will be accomplished through a combination of cost effective and efficient packaging operations, strategic partnerships and alliances, and superior marketing approaches which establish us as our customer's preferred supplier. Location and Growing Conditions The potato needs the perfect soil and growing conditions along with the proximity of water sources being fed by the melting snow from towering mountain ranges. This makes the Magic Valley of Southern Idaho the greatest potato growing region in the world. The unique environment of the Magic Valley in Southern Idaho provides nearly perfect growing conditions for the potato. The soil, water, clean air and climate here in the Magic Valley contribute to the consistently high-quality potato that has made Idaho famous for so many years.
