Sun Valley Potato Growers, Inc. Potato Growers Cooperative Sun Valley Potato Growers, Inc. is an Idaho potato farmer cooperative. It is the only grower-owned potato cooperative in Idaho that owns and operates a packing and sales facility. The cooperative is located in Minidoka County in the heart of the Magic Valley of Southern Idaho. Sun Valley Potato Growers, Inc. has approximately 20 growers in Southern Idaho supplying approximately 1.8 million/cwt. of Norkotah, Russet Burbank and Russet Gem potatoes to the plant. The potatoes are then packed and sold on the fresh market. By owning their fresh pack processing plant, this cooperative creates a situation that brings the grower and the staff together to produce a premium product - the Idaho Potato. The perfect soil and growing conditions along with the proximity of water sources being fed by the melting snow from towering mountain ranges make the Magic Valley of Southern Idaho the greatest potato growing region in the world. The location of the growers in the Magic Valley means that mountains arise on both the north and south sides. These scenic mountains collect snow all winter, which melts and flows crystal clear into large surface and underground reservoirs. That snow water is used to irrigate potatoes with irrigation systems that apply the right amount of water when it's needed. |
